7 Natural Hacks for Dealing With Brain Fog

We live in an “always on” society. Our phones constantly ping away with notifications. Our schedules are filled with extracurriculars, household chores, and special work projects. Many of us frequently feel tired, irritable, and have trouble concentrating.

The culprit?

It could be what some experts call “brain fog.” While “brain fog” isn’t something that your physician is going to diagnose you with from The Merck Manual, it could be a symptom of some cognitive dysfunction.

What is brain fog?

People who experience brain fog may have:

  • Feelings of fatigue and low energy
  • Low-grade anxiety and/or depression
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Difficulty remembering information
  • Trouble focusing
  • Headaches
  • Trouble exercising
  • Irritable disposition

What causes brain fog?

Brain fog may be caused by any number of health issues, from stress and lack of sleep to poor diet and use of certain medications. In some people, brain fog may be an early warning sign of Alzheimer’s or some other brain-related illness.

Cat-cow is one of the most common yoga poses, and it’s great for circulating spinal fluid. Take a few minutes at the start of your day to get a deep spinal flex with this pose. For a little extra stretch, add in some side-to-side movements or roll the head in a circular motion.

A vitamin B12 deficiency can cause problems with energy, memory, mood, and mental clarity. If you feel like your brain is foggy, the solution may be as simple as taking a B12 vitamin!

#4 Get Quality Sleep
